Always have a firewall:
If you can not afford to have an ICSA Stateful Packet Firewall
then at least have a broad band router in-between your connection
to the internet and your internal network.
Windows Updates:
Always make sure your windows updates are up to date. However,
we suggest waiting at least 2 days before applying any patches
to make sure
they are free of errors.
Passwords:
Keep your passwords to yourself. Don’t
write them down and leave them in your desk. Changing passwords at
least every 60 days
and using alpha numeric characters is always a plus.
Anti-virus:
If you’re on a network do not
rely on your users to update or even cancel the anti-virus
updates. Get a corporate solution
to push the updates to your clients so your always protected.
Physical security:
The number 1 thing companies
always look over is physical security. If you have physical
access to a server it does not take a hacker
to reset, steal, unplug or destroy your extremely expensive
server. Did you know most Administrator accounts can be reset
with just a
boot disk? Routers, Switches, and Firewalls all have backdoors
for lost passwords. You can access these backdoors if you have
physical security to the devices.
Next
Horizon can perform a security audit on your network and consult
with your company to determine what the best solution is to fit your
needs.
